St. Louis CITY SC had a chance to prove something in D.C.

After beating Colorado on the road and LAFC at home, CITY entered Saturday with real momentum, a chance at three straight MLS wins, and an opportunity to climb closer to the playoff line. Instead, they scored first, sat too deep, gave up a 90th-minute equalizer, survived a stoppage-time offside goal, and left with a 1-1 draw that felt like one point earned, two points dropped, and a small emotional incident report.

In Episode 17 of City SC Posse, Bright and Kev break down the D.C. draw and ask the obvious question: was this a decent road point or a missed opportunity? The answer, unfortunately, is both. CITY is unbeaten in three MLS matches, but this was the kind of game improving teams learn to close.

The guys talk through the rotated lineup, Hartel missing due to illness, Orozco’s injury, Fallou Fall’s strong first start, Sang-Bin’s continued goal involvement, Becher and Teuchert’s attacking questions, and Durkin scoring against his former club. Then it gets into the real frustration: Damet’s second-half tactics. CITY brought on Löwen, Córdova, Edelman, and Totland, yet somehow became more passive as the game went on.

And yes, we talk Wallem. Another rough performance, another wasted chance, two yellows, a stoppage-time red card, and now a suspension for Austin that might accidentally be helpful. If CITY looks better without him, the conversation gets very simple.

Then the attention turns to Houston. CITY hosts the Dynamo in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal, and suddenly the Cup is not a cute little side quest. Win Tuesday, and CITY is two wins from a trophy. Lose, and the D.C. draw feels even more annoying.

CITY failed the maturity test, but the Cup is calling. Time to answer.

Bright: So let's just start it off with what it is. Was this a one point earned on the road? Good job. Or two points dropped and we really missed an opportunity or both.

Kev: Little bit of both, little bit of thank God we didn't lose the game too, you know, like, ⁓ was kind of mixed feelings all the way around. I guess you feel good about getting the point, you know, on the road, and continuing to put points up on the board, right? Like consecutively here and getting out of the cellar and starting to make a push.

Bright: Yeah, but we're not out of the cellar. You know, I mean, we're not in dead last place. We're, we're, we're still in 14th place. have 13 points now sporting Kansas city one. They beat Austin and then Austin fired their coach immediately afterwards. ⁓ so we're only up on sporting by two points. Now, of course we're still within reach, but if we win this game, we're sitting at in 12th place.

Kev: We're not done yet. ⁓ that's not good for us.

Bright: You know, and we are actually moving up the table. So that's kind of what frustrates me is that, you know, and we talked about it. We had the opportunity. We had some momentum here to put together an actual win streak, three games in a row. ⁓ yes, we're still unbeaten in three games. So in that sense, you're feeling pretty good. ⁓ but we've done a, we've done a couple of things now we've scored first and three consecutive games. And we certainly had the opportunity here, but I think.

Kev: add this.

Bright: Ultimately the tactics let us down where, we'll get into, you know, some of the specifics in the game, but where we, took that one, nothing lead. And then we just sat back and let DC take it to us. And as a fan, could feel it coming. And they did. Right. And, and then after they scored that one, you know, we, then you're start thinking like, ⁓ my God, there, there's still eight seconds left. Yeah. Our eight minutes left. Excuse me. Yeah. Like.

Kev: down. ⁓ yeah, just that. And they did. then you were holding your breath. Three minutes.

Bright: We could lose this thing and not just, we're not going to come away with the time. We're going to lose it. And then of course we all know that they had that. Yes, we, they had that goal called back, ⁓ in the 96th minute, I think. And, ⁓ ultimately that, that saves us the point. And at the very end of it, you're like, whoof, you know, we'll, we'll take the point. But when you look back at the whole thing, I tend to think more missed opportunity, ⁓ you know, this could have been us again, not only winning three.

Kev: Mm-hmm. And we try to give it to them too, right? ⁓ yeah.

Bright: actually moving up in the table, building real momentum. Instead, it kind of feels like another city, a, you know, tie that doesn't mean much.

Kev: Yeah, you know, it's not like we came out with the All-Star lineup. Obviously, we're missing Hurtle. That's a big, a big miss. We would have not started in the game. So, kind of would have felt like we stole one with the B squad in a way, but it would have been nice to come away with three. And ten bucks.

Bright: So let's talk about that. Yeah. So, so harddles out with illness. know that that had been running through the team. We talked about that. Okay. Orozco he's out until after the world cup break with a hamstring injury. ⁓ you know, Louvin not getting the start again. Okay. I understand. We have to rotate the squad. have, you know, we played on Wednesday, we beat LAFC. ⁓ you know, we got the game tomorrow. ⁓ depending on when you're listening to this, ⁓

Kev: Yeah.

Bright: You know, against the U S open cup matchup against Houston. And then we wrap up the quote unquote first half of the season at home Saturday against Austin. So we have a lot of games in a short amount of time. Louvin's not full fitness. All right. Like I kind of get it, but at some point I'm like, all right, let's, let's give him some minutes. He has to work his fitness level back up. We've seen him start already. So it's not like he hasn't started a match yet. So that, that threw me a little bit. Couple of other things, you know, okay. So fall, gets his first start of the season. I think he crushed it. Right. was dominant in the air. A lot of clearances overall. Great game. ⁓ saying, go ahead. Yeah, actually, I think he, I think he may have even led the team, ⁓ and overall pass count, you know, so, you know, so he had a, had a lot of the ball, ⁓ saying Ben.

Kev: Found some good passes too, I thought. Found some good passes. Okay, nope.

Bright: You know, he's been involved in a lot of goals. He's involved in another one. You know, I feel like you have to start them at this point in Demay to his credit. He, he starts them. ⁓ but then, all right, betcher. I, you don't really have any other better options, unfortunately. Right. Like I guess with other, other than McSorley and Joyner. So it is kind of surprising that they're not getting more, more minutes and people are starting to question like.

Kev: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Bright: Did they piss off Demay or something? why, why? Like McSorley has the same amount of goals as Betcher in a fraction of the playing time. So we keep going with Betcher and, and we'll get again to some of his plays. Like he didn't play terrible, but he's not scoring goals. You got one goal in however many games, something's going on there. And the same is true with ToyShirt where I thought earlier.

Kev: Yeah. Yeah, that's the problem.

Bright: In the year, he got some minutes. like, ⁓ he looks dangerous. Well, that's pretty much gone now. He doesn't look dangerous anymore. Cordova can't do anything. I don't know.

Kev: Yeah, Toy shirt. He was kind of involved in the goal, but ⁓ yeah, not doing enough with his chances. Thatcher. You know, he's there. He's I got you. He can't he can't buy a freaking goal half the time. Like this thing's hitting off of him up close, not specifically today, but he could be on a, you know, one one foot into that goal. That ball's hitting off of them like over the crossbar or something. He had a couple of chances. Yeah, he had one in the last game similar. ⁓ And then I think. ⁓

Bright: We said it last time, he's- Right. He had one in the last game.

Kev: On Saturday he had a good, you know, he had a good couple chances. He had a great left foot shot. think that fault that into him. ⁓ He took it to his to his credit. It was a one touch shot, which is what it needed to be. So he did everything right except, you know. Put the ball on goal.

Bright: He did. ⁓ huh. Got himself in position. Yeah. Yeah, he, shot it right at the goalie and you know, he, he, got himself.

Kev: I thought he missed it. I would not. Did he hit it? Okay.

Bright: No, no, no, right, right at the goalie with power. So again, to your point and the goalie made the save, but the goalie was in position. Betcher didn't have anywhere else to put the ball, you know? So yeah, he got himself in a position to shoot. made the good run. And so that was the thing he. Yeah, I know that's one play, but he made a lot of quote unquote good runs. But again, you need to score at some point and then the, round out the, the starting lineup again, you got wallum in there and.

Kev: Now, ⁓ that's one play. Yeah.

Bright: Again, I think he was the worst player on the team. And of course he gets the red card. So he's out, out. I'm going to the game on Saturday. So that's one thing I don't have to worry about seeing wall. ⁓ you know, every. Well, I mean, I think you gotta, you have, ⁓ you certainly could play Totland. Santos we've seen him play both sides of the wing.

Kev: Like see that. Yeah. Yeah. You're happy. Yeah. Who we starting over there?

Bright: ⁓ you know, you could put joiner over there. Yeah.

Kev: Yeah, I'd love to see Joyner play probably Totten and then maybe a Joyner coming off the off the bench, but

Bright: Yeah. So we'll, we'll see. Cause again, we talk, we're going to have to rotate the squad. So, all right. Let's, let's talk about the first half a little bit. before the goal, ⁓ overall, was a wide open game. was entertaining first half of the sock of soccer. I'll say I was watching it on the plane. Thanks to star link, ⁓ an official sponsor of city SC posse star link. No, that yeah, very unofficial. Yeah. Yeah. I wish I wish.

Kev: Unofficial. Unofficial. Ain't that known?

Bright: But yeah, when you're on the plane and you got star link and we were just sitting on the runway with 45 minutes, the whole first half just waiting to take off. And I was content because I was watching the soccer game. Um, so that was, that was good, but yeah, wide open, um, first half, uh, from both sides, you know, saying Ben had a good cross while I'm wasted his opportunity. Berkey made a big save in the 16th minute. Uh, Santos breaks up a three V two.

Kev: Yep.

Bright: With a diving tackle to block the shot. ⁓ the 25th minute, 25th minutes when better makes that good run and gets the hard shot on goal. So, you know, it was open. It was fun. We were threatening, ⁓ DC was kind of content to let us have the ball and then, ⁓ counter attack, which I think is their game plan. You know, the announcer said that they're one of the worst teams in, in all of MLS with regards to overall possession. So.

Kev: VR? Oh, okay. Cool.

Bright: Yeah. Yeah. And what, what's interesting when you look at the final possession numbers, was 54 % city, 46 % DC, but how much of that came in the second half? Cause there were, there were long stretches in that first half where we were just dominant, full possession opportunities. And, and they, think ended up with most of their possession in the second half after we scored the goal.

Kev: After we score, I yeah, you said it and that's what it felt like. It just, it felt like it was coming. It was that train coming, you know, to the station. You knew that they were going to end up scoring because we were just sitting back trying to survive the onslaught in that second half. So, ⁓ I enjoyed the first half.

Bright: Yeah, we had a, we had a lot of corners. Yeah. A lot of corner kicks, a lot of opportunities. Um, it was, was fun. And I was feeling pretty good about it. You can go into the second half. was kind of thinking like, okay, as long as we don't give up a goal in the first five minutes, like was a trend earlier in the season. And I was like, we're going to come out strong. We're going to keep it. And I'm thinking all of our best players are still on the bench. You know, you're able to bring in a Totland, a Louvin. And Edelman, a Cordova, wouldn't call them one of our best players, but you know, a fresh attacking piece. Yeah. And I'm like, okay. You know, we started our quote unquote B squad, right? But now we're going to bring in our, best players and we're going to have an opportunity here. Now, before we even get to that point, we get the goal. So let's, let's break down the goal, which overall pretty, pretty positive play.

Kev: capable off the bench, yeah. Yeah, who put that ball out to Sang-Ven? Do you know?

Bright: So betcher, betcher actually plays a good, ⁓ kind of flick on, on a one-on-one ball comes to him. He gets just a flick and then, you know, spins and it goes out to saying bin betcher keeps his run going follows along saying bin plays it all properly. Now I think he's probably playing it back to toy shirt. and in toy shirts, momentum wasn't quite there. It was taking him. He wasn't going to put a strong shot on goal. Betcher keeps his run, takes the defenseman.

Kev: Mm-hmm.

Bright: In and then torture makes the great dummy, you know, which kind of throws everybody off, even as a fan, if it's kind of predictable, ⁓ you know, he, makes the dummy now, Durkin does not step into it with conviction. He doesn't hit the best ⁓ shot in the world, but again, that dummy, players in the way, the goalie is looking at toy shirt, whatever the case may be. He doesn't react in time and Durkin schools scores against his former team. We're up one, nothing. We score first again.

Kev: Yeah, you're a go.

Bright: And I'm like, ⁓ we're rolling now.

Kev: Yeah, you know, I think it was three games ago. I said the Best bet you can make is the other squad scored first and ⁓ that's not been hit lately. So that's always fun getting on the board. I thought it was a good play saying Ben being involved again in this goal. He's he's gotta be in the lineup moving forward because he. Yeah, yeah.

Bright: That's three, three goals in a row, right? Or three, at least three games in a row that he's been involved in in a goal. So yeah, I think you got to keep playing them.

Kev: really liking him out there and his speed and then, know, to Butcher's credit, he made that run that pulled into the Defender to that near post and opened up that lane for the pass. It was fun. It was exciting.

Bright: And again, yeah, again, great job by toy shirt on that play. Great job by better on that play. Fine. But you're also in there to score goals and you're not scoring goals. So I'm not giving you a pass, but I will say to their credit. Okay. Good play. Thanks. Thanks for that contribution, but you're still not doing enough.

Kev: Yeah, I'm with you. I'm with you.

Bright: Okay. Glad I'm glad we're in alignment there. ⁓

Kev: Get Hurtle out there and then all of a sudden you got yourself a little ⁓ top line.

Bright: Yeah. You know, and that, that could be true. Well, we'll wait and see. We'll see. We'll get to the Houston game and then, you know, we'll hopefully record another episode before Austin. But, okay. So then now we're up one, nothing. And we bring on Louvin for toy shirt in the 62nd minute, 63rd minute, something like that. Cordova comes on for saying Ben Edelman comes on for Miggie all at the same time. ⁓ Totland comes on for Santos in the 78th minute. ⁓ and then you're getting ready to bring on, ⁓ Mbake fall, ⁓ in the 90th minute. So he's waiting there. He's ready to come on to give you a little bit extra defense, but really for long stretches, certainly I would say since we brought in all of our guys. we're talking about, ⁓ the six 60th minute on give or take. scored in the 50th. So.

Kev: Okay.

Bright: 60th minute on it was all DC and, yet we just brought on a whole slew of players that are fresh, you know, that can attack. Um, so you're thinking like we should be good. Now something that I, I pointed out earlier in, I put up a blog, uh, my Monday morning reaction. I don't know if you had a chance to read it or not. You should have. Yeah. Get, do your homework, man. Do your homework. But I said that. ⁓ now I lost my train of thought. What did I say? I said that it was okay when we're at home against LAFC playing a little bit more defensively. You still got the crowd momentum. You know, obviously we go up for two goals, but when you're on the road against the team, that's better than you, at least in the standings to sit back for 30, 40 minutes and just pray to the soccer gods that you're going to hold on. I don't know that's the best tactic.

Kev: starts building against you. That's the environment you got to go after that second goal to put them down, right? You need that second goal to put it out of reach. And we didn't.

Bright: And we basically had no attack after that. Like none. think we had one good chance that I can kind of remember, ⁓ Louvin pass it to somebody and somebody took a shot and it went over. Wallum. was Wallum at the very top of the box. He had a straightforward shot shot at high.

Kev: That's how it's That sounds great. That's something we'd expect to do, but that might've been it. Like I don't remember much else. ⁓ I do remember that shot. Cause was that the one where the announcers were like, ⁓ my God, like he had so much time just to reset and take that shot. And he rushed it. Maybe that was the first. I can't remember.

Bright: Yeah. Yep. And yet the, announcers kept saying, ⁓ yeah, it was before their goal. Yeah, I think so. And they still were given Wallum credit for playing such a great game. I am like, what game are you watching? He's the worst player on the pitch.

Kev: Yeah. No.

Bright: Every game in and out, you know, I don't know. kept talking about him playing an inverted wide mid position, you know, like, okay. So we had saying Ben on the outside and wallows playing right wing back and playing the Inver. I don't, I don't know that he was any better in that position, maybe slightly, but still missed opportunities to yellows picks up the red. I don't know what he's doing. Um, so that, yeah, that was, that was a big bummer. then, so

Kev: Thank Did he need to take that second yellow you think? I mean, I think he needed to do it. Now it was his fault for getting in that position. But I do think it was the thing to do. know like, I don't know how it happened. How do you let him push up past you on a one on three?

Bright: Yeah, I think he did. It was one on three also. Yeah. Right. And that's the thing. And they just had all the momentum. So they scored the goal in the 90th minute off a set piece. So again, we had eight corner kicks and they had five and yet they managed to score on that one. And you know, we kind of do a half clearance. comes out to their player and to their credit, the player takes one touch, gets the shot off. Our guys are scrambling. We're we're disorganized. We're running at the ball. We're blocking screening, Berkey.

Kev: You

Bright: He can't make, can't make a play. wasn't like the most well-played shot in the world. He just put it on frame. Berkey can't see it, can't react in time. And none of our guys got the block.

Kev: Berkey had a good game too. He kept us in that. He kept us in that game. Couple plays, you know, just with some some really good saves. I don't think that he. don't. ⁓ yeah, I I kind of I get that I get that at that position. ⁓ But he came up big in a lot of ways in that game and. I'm not gonna.

Bright: ⁓ yeah, he did have a good game. He made some... Yeah. Well, he's catching a lot of flack, you know, about his salary, but. Mm-hmm.

Kev: say it was his fault on that goal. Like you said, it was screen. You couldn't see much, right? The offense just put it in the right spot.

Bright: No! But again, you knew it was coming. You could, you could feel it. And then they immediately go get the ball out of the net because now that they know, they know they have all the momentum. The crowds on their side. Yeah.

Kev: Gotta be on it. They know we haven't done anything in like 20 minutes up to that point. It's been everything for them. It was a tough watch. It was not fun. And that's when I thought, oh, my God, I was feeling real good. was when Berkey made that diving save. I was like around, I don't know, 75 minutes or something like that. And I was like, oh, I think we're going to I think we could maybe squeak this out. I think we could maybe squeak this out.

Bright: Yeah. ⁓ huh.

Kev: score and then all of a sudden you're starting to think, shh, we're gonna lose this thing. We've lost those three points that in my mind earlier on I was like, ⁓ my god, I think we're gonna get three points.

Bright: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And again, we, we've had games like this in the past, but we've had a collapse and given up these late goals. So you don't, you don't feel as confident right now. Cause we don't, haven't had the run of form as of late, ⁓ to say like, we're going to do this. This could have been that game, you know, like we held on against LAFC, you know, you beat Colorado with a clean sheet one, nothing. This could have been the game where you're like, all right, you know, we're

Kev: Mm-hmm.

Bright: We're putting it together. have the run of form. We have the confidence now and we just couldn't quite get there. ⁓ you know, wallum takes the second yellow in the 92nd minute. ⁓ again, I think he did have to take that fall. ⁓ you know, but you know, they had all the momentum. This guy's going to go one V three. He's going to beat us. Wallum had to take him down. ⁓ then they had a good chance on the free kick. I can't remember if that.

Kev: We got something going. It did. Mm-hmm.

Bright: It was a different free kick. think that they actually ended up scoring the goal on. and you know, on the eye test, it looked like a good goal as I watched it live. like, no, I don't think there's any offside there. You know, Berkey makes the initial save with a dive to the right and their guy just is crashing the net ball runs right into them. I'm like, that's a goal. ⁓ so again, just kind of thank you DC for lining up off sides. ⁓

Kev: right there to push it in.

Bright: You know, again, they, they tried to give us some credit saying like we held our line. Okay. You know, I guess that's true. We waited until the ball was play. We didn't drop back. You can give us some credit for that, but ultimately I think this one's on DC. can't be lining up off sides, ⁓ on a play like that with an opportunity to win the game and it costs them.

Kev: interesting Yeah, I, you know, like you said, watching it live, didn't think it was off sides, camera angle, whatever. I think I sent out the man that was just watching. giving up two goals here and having no momentum, no offense. We lucked out. We lucked out. It didn't feel good. It did not feel good.

Bright: Yep. Yep. ⁓ to wrap things up on this game too, I guess two last things. One, I'll just say that Jared Stroud, you know, former city player changed the game for DC. You know, I always treated Stroud like today's wall. ⁓ when he was on our team, I thought he was the worst on the pitch. thought he just ran around, ⁓ and people thought he was good because he would run and he'd try real hard, but he never really, never really did enough.

Kev: We like that.

Bright: I used to say it to pop all the time. Like, ⁓ Jared Stroud, you know, now maybe he's, maybe he's matured a couple of years with DC, but I thought he came in. He, he's the one that played a couple of the crosses across, you know, made some good plays down the wing. He was the one that took the corner kick that led to the goal. ⁓ you know, so he brought in some energy for them certainly. you know, ⁓ yeah, so credit credit where credits do.

Kev: You can get in there, dammit! Good for him. Yep, good for him.

Bright: Did you make any bets? I could not because I was traveling. I was out of the country, ⁓ flying home. So I did not make any bets.

Kev: I I did. It was a loser. lost, ⁓ 10 bucks.

Bright: ⁓ that sounds like a loser. Well, what were the bets on?

Kev: I put $10 on a city loss. City loss. Thought we were going lose that game. I really did.

Bright: Mm. Mm. That's two in a row now, I think you bet on a loss, right?

Kev: It well, it's been working for us. So I needed just to go and add it Let us let us win or get the points, I guess so I was very nervous though that I was gonna somehow walk into a win on that on that bet I did not want to win that bet Sometimes when I when I think we're gonna Screw something, you know, like I'd rather win win a bet and walk away feeling okay about it then just deal with this city loss.

Bright: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I don't know if I'll make a bet for, ⁓ the U S open cup match, you know, so, ⁓ let's, let's roll right into that. So we got the match Tuesday night against the Houston dynamo. ⁓ you know, we're unbeaten in three MLS competitions, I think, but if you go back all the way to Chicago, ⁓ four out of the last five, we've secured points. If, if I'm remembering correctly, ⁓ You know, so overall good run of form. Now we come back home, ⁓ for the next two. ⁓ so again, we got Austin on Saturday day game and we have, ⁓ the dynamo Tuesday night. So a couple of things I did. I am, ⁓ I had secured those $15 tickets or whatever they were. bought four of them. Taking the whole family.

Kev: Hmm? Are you going Tuesday? Nice. Yeah, enough flash sale. Yup. Nice, nice.

Bright: So it's the first time I'm taking the younger kiddos to a city game. So we've gone to some city two games and I took my youngest to the open practice they did last year. And I know that they're going to treat this more like a city two game as far as concessions, general seating. I'm hoping the weather holds out. It could be a little wet, but it looks like rain will move on by the time the game starts, at least according to the current.

Kev: Mm-hmm.

Bright: forecast, but still could be a little wet on the pitch, ⁓ know, concourse, all of that. But we plan on getting down there. Gates open at six. Game starts at seven. Remember not seven 30. It it's on Paramount plus or CBS sports. So a little bit, little bit different, ⁓ broadcasting.

Kev: Okay, that's nice, yeah. Funny enough, I learned the other day that I have CBS Plus, so I will be able to watch the game without having to go through that like red zone kind of style broadcast, which is a big win. Number two, since it is general admission into this game, are you scoping out a specific section knowing that, you know, our season tickets were kind of always seeing the game in the same, you know, same viewpoint, or are you going anywhere different?

Bright: Yeah. Nice. not necessarily. ⁓ I guess we'll have to see on how crowded it actually is. ⁓ it is standing room still in the supporter section. So we will stay out of there. ⁓ you know, so I think it's just, just the East stands that are open and then behind both sets of goals. ⁓ you know, so ideally it'd be nice to sit up a little bit higher, ⁓ you know, at, at the halfway mark, but.

Kev: Mm-hmm. Okay. I was gonna say, I think that's my deal.

Bright: I'm not, don't think we're going to be too worried about like the sun. I remember that one game I took the kids to the city too. It was family night and it was like 102 degrees. Uh, you know, got into a big fight with some of the security people cause the, you know, the kiddos and they just had seats in the stands that were in the shade. Yeah. They just wouldn't let anybody sit in. like, there's no reason to not let me and my young kids sit in the shade. You know, um, I don't think we're worried about that tomorrow. So if we need to go down closer to the pitch.

Kev: You Yeah.

Bright: And the kids want to do that. You know, might be hard for them to see. don't know, but I'm open to it. So we're just going to get down there a little bit early, you know, maybe like six 15, you know, enough time to try and get a good seat, get some food, uh, let the kids get the whole experience, uh, and then watch the game and they'll be up past their bedtime. So I'm hoping it all works. They're obviously very excited about it. Uh, but I'm like, the game won't be over till nine. We ain't going to be home till 10. Uh, it's technically a school night, even if it is the last week of

Kev: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Cool. They'll be sleeping on the car ride home, I'm sure. I'm sure.

Bright: Yeah. And that, you know, and that'll be, that'll be right. But I think they're, you know, they're excited. Should be, should be a fun game. You know, are we going to go all in this is the quarterfinals. So if we win this game, then we're just two wins away from winning a trophy.

Kev: We do. We do. I think, ⁓ ⁓ I'm being called up. Be right there.

Bright: Well, we're wrapping up the kitchen. The kids should be asleep at this point, man. There's no excuses.

Kev: We're wrapping it up. Yeah, they're in their crib. She's been sleeping as she woke up apparently. I think that we're all in on this. ⁓ I think that's the reason that some of our lineups on Saturday and Wednesday were what they were. The minutes that everybody's been getting, we're playing this. This is our tournament that we're playing for right now, especially with where we're at in the stands or the standings. So I fully expect.

Bright: Yeah. Yeah. And we're on even less rest. You know, that's the thing with the being a Tuesday matchup, then, you know, you only have Sunday, Monday play tomorrow and then we'll get an extra day of rest. We'll have Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, ⁓ before Saturday's matchup. Although remember Saturday's is a day matchup. So you don't, you don't have quite as long, but Houston, they currently sit in sixth place, ⁓ on the Western conference, ⁓ standings.

Kev: Yeah.

Bright: 21 points, have 7 wins, 6 losses, 0 draws.

Kev: Hmm

Bright: And they have a minus four goal differential, right? I know, right? No, no draws. So minus four goal differential. ⁓ you know, so that's not screaming that they're this great team and, ⁓ their road record is two and four. So again, I think we have an opportunity here. We certainly play better at home. We should have the crowd, ⁓ you know, on our, ⁓ on our side, ⁓ hopefully it's big enough.

Kev: almost tough to do. Hmm.

Bright: And, we'll see what we can do. I think if we can score first again, use the home field advantage. ⁓ you know, hopefully wallum doesn't play saying bin, some time. Louvin Hurtle is back. ⁓ you know, I think, I think we've got a pretty strong chance here to, take this into the second half of the season and, being a semi-final game, then you're just one away for playing from a trophy. So kind of gets fun to talk about now.

Kev: Wallen will be in there.

Bright: Well, he can't play on Saturday. So maybe that's what, ⁓ coach Demay is thinking is like, might as well burn them.

Kev: I think that honestly, I think that's gonna play a little bit. like burn his legs up because he can't play on Saturday anyway. That takes that decision out, right? Like might as well use them. So I expect them to be in there. So when it comes out, I'm not gonna get upset about it. It's just gonna know what's gonna happen. We're gonna see better. We're gonna see while I'm in there, it just takes up.

Bright: Well, we'll see, we'll see. ⁓

Kev: We're favored for this game, by the way. don't know if you saw that. We are favored for this game. Yup. So, ⁓ favorite for this game. And I know we're not looking too far ahead to Saturday, but we're favored on Saturday. So feel good about that St. Louis. We're finally back into the norm of the home team being favored. So it should be a fun one.

Bright: Are we? Okay. Home team. should be. Yeah. Yes. All right. Well, let's, yup. Let's wrap up these two. I'm excited. I'm excited to take the family. And then I got the next two games. Cause then we, then we're going to be on hiatus, you know, for six weeks or something. And you know, it'll be tough to, guess we'll have the world cup to get our fix in, but, ⁓ we'll see. And hopefully we can come back and record another episode before Saturday's matchup Memorial day weekend. It's always fun to go to a game downtown Memorial day weekend. So, ⁓ let's do it.

Kev: Yeah. Agreed. Awesome.

Bright: All right. Go take care of your daughter.

Kev: Enjoy the game.

Bright: All right, bye, peace.

Kev: Bye.
