Matt and Duds start with an update on *Lee Gilley*, the Texas capital-murder defendant previously discussed on NFNP with bail expert Ken Good. After allegedly cutting off his GPS monitor and escaping to Italy, Gilley’s extradition fight has created another twist involving the death penalty and what punishment he could face if returned to Texas.
Then things get considerably darker.
*Sunny Hostin recently claimed she was the holdout juror in the 1991 Daniel Rakowitz murder trial*, but contemporary reporting has raised questions about exactly how accurate that memory is. We revisit the horrifying case of *Monika Beerle and the man dubbed the Butcher of Tompkins Square Park*, including the dismemberment, boiling of remains, disputed cannibalism allegations and the insanity verdict that kept Rakowitz in psychiatric custody rather than prison.
Finally, *McDonald’s Monopoly is back*, which gives us the perfect excuse to revisit one of the strangest promotional frauds in American history. Jerry “Uncle Jerry” Jacobson was supposed to protect the game’s most valuable winning pieces. Instead, prosecutors said he stole them and fed them into a network of fake winners that eventually included people with organized-crime connections.
