City SC Posse - Ep 13: Booze, Food, & Goals!

After getting absolutely smacked around in Seattle, the boys are back to break down another frustrating CITY performance, ask what the hell happened on those repeated set-piece goals, and figure out whether there is still any real reason for optimism before San Jose comes to town.
Seattle was ugly, the marking was worse, and the attack once again looked like a team crossing the ball because it has run out of better ideas. As Bright puts it, CITY may be leading the league in crosses, but that might just be a fancy way of saying nobody knows how else to create anything dangerous.
The guys get into Wallem’s latest disaster, why his spot in the lineup is becoming impossible to defend, and why the fans are screaming for different options like Joyner or Totland to get more run. They also talk through the larger issue hanging over this team: one win in eight matches, 14th in the West, too many backward passes, not enough creativity, and a coach who has not shown enough urgency with lineup changes or substitutions.
There is at least one real bright spot: Lowen is back. His first MLS minutes of the season came in Seattle, and he wasted no time making an impact, scoring just two minutes after coming on and immediately showing the creativity CITY has been missing. The guys talk about what he changes, why his set-piece quality matters, and how much this team has needed him.
Then it turns to San Jose. CITY is somehow 6-0 all time against the Earthquakes, but this version of San Jose is not the same old pushover. They are sitting first in the West, just dropped five on Austin, and come into St. Louis looking like a real problem. The guys break down the odds, the betting angles, the weird market respect CITY is still getting at home, and what lineup changes they want to see if this team is serious about getting a result.
And because this is City SC Posse, the episode ends where all great matchday conversations should end: with the real priorities. The right food at the stadium, a few beers, and finally some goals for the home team.
Bright: So right before we hit record, Kev just told me he didn't even watch the game last week, which, which is not good. You had something going on. said, â mean, hopefully you watch like the recap or, or something to say the least. can you expect to be on a podcast and not have watched the game?
Kev: Get a watchin'. So, you know, I got to watch a little bit of the recap because I couldn't, you know, I knew what the score was and I couldn't bring myself to â sit down and watch the game after knowing we lost 4 to 1. â But, you know, I got to see the recap and I thought maybe I could ask you some questions about the game.
Bright: Well, yeah. Well, I'll say a couple of things. One, I flew home early from Mexico so that I could be home in plenty of time. Cause my original flight had me on the plane during the start of the game. And yeah, you, you know, you can watch the replay or the recording or whatever, but sometimes I've noticed when you hop on Apple, if I, if I say start to the beginning, it doesn't work. It just picks up in the middle of the game. And then I'm like, I was going to start at the beginning and now it's halftime. So I just lost 45 minutes, you know, so I like to watch it obviously when the game starts. â and I think I mentioned it on our last episode that maybe if I had star link on the plane, which is hit or miss, I don't always know if it's going to be on there, but if you have star link, then you can watch live TV. can do all the things. â but I woke up at four 30 in the morning.
Kev: Yeah. Hmm.
Bright: Left my hotel at five in the morning, had my flight at seven in the morning. And I think I got home at around four o'clock. Had a little bit of time to settle in and get ready for, for the start of the game, which was not until like eight 30. So, you know, this, so that was nice. I was able to watch the game. I, â I wrote up a blog post that night. think I may not have even posted it till Monday. can't remember if it was Monday or, or Sunday afternoon. So I don't know if you had the chance to read that.
Kev: Learn for you. Yeah. Yep.
Bright: But that would have told you everything you need to know about the game, â which was embarrassing. And I think I, I think I titled the blog post a public beating in Seattle, public beating in Seattle. So, I mean, not good.
Kev: Yeah. I think you were right. Yeah. I think that's probably what it was. And we kind of knew that it was going to be a really tough go from the get-go, right? Like we had the game on Wednesday for the Cup game, going into Seattle that, you know, historically just beats us right on the road. It's another road game. I think that was like number, what felt like number five in a row or something like that. You know, I know it wasn't, but.
Bright: Yeah, I mean... Well, it was number, number three, number three in a row. â but five of our first eight games have been on the road. Right. And then we're home. We're home tonight. Yeah, for sure. And we're home tonight and we'll talk about that, but then we have another two on the road. So we don't have our first back to back home games until five 23.
Kev: Yeah, so... then that's gonna wear on ya.
Bright: And then seven 16, technically those are back to back home games, but that we have the big, the brick brick, the big break for the world cup. So in all actuality, if you don't count those, our first back to back home games aren't until eight 22 and eight 30. Um, yeah. And we do, we do end the season with a lot of, a lot of back to back home games. So, you know, we have a pretty decent stretch there, but.
Kev: Love it. It's so ridiculous.
Bright: Yeah, it's been a tough, â start to the season and we talked about that. And, â this was kind of the, you know, I don't know. This is kind of, feel like the end of the season, like it's over. Yeah. Yeah. Well, it again, we, we could talk about tonight's game too, but we're playing. So yes, we're at home, but we're playing the number one team in.
Kev: You're waving it. It's done. We're Playing to see what kids are doing. Who's going to be good next year? Who's expendable?
Bright: in the Western conference in San Jose. So if you don't put out a showing tonight, then we've got another two games on the road. And then all of a sudden your, your record is just absolutely horrendous and there's no way to come back from it. So, um, so that game against Seattle, where we thought maybe we had a little bit of momentum, you know, we had tied a couple of games on the road. had, yeah, we had. Well, one.
Kev: It's a big win, big winning moment. Yeah, that's brilliant. Moments of going into it. Yeah, yeah Goals and goals in all of these games, right? Like at least one and
Bright: One goal. Yeah. You have the big, big win in the U S open cup against a bad Tulsa team. We previewed that, you know, they weren't good. They were, they're bad in the us L so we should have beat them for nothing. â and, and then you go into Seattle and I think we said that they were going to need a minimum of two goals to even be competitive. â and turns out that wasn't even going to be enough. You know, we gave up four, so let's do, let's not, let's not spend too much time.
Kev: thing. No.
Bright: on the Seattle game. It was disappointing, but just a couple of quick things. mean, the first two goals, if you saw those, they were the same goal. So how that happens at the MLS level, I don't even know how the first one happens. If you saw it, they leave their guy completely unmarked on the corner kick on the far post. Nobody's paying any attention to them. And then he has an easy tap in. I saw some people trying to blame Berkey for that. like, the guy's unmarked the six yard box. You know, like you can have the right positioning, but your reaction time is almost nil at that point. And you either get lucky or you don't. And he didn't. But for me, that's all on the defense. I don't know who should have had him marked if it was bomb guard or somebody else, but they all just looked around like, how did that happen? You know, and then they let it happen again. That, was the biggest thing. Like they made no adjustments.
Kev: Yeah. How do you not mark somebody? â
Bright: And it's the same player at the same position. And then he has another easy tap in.
Kev: Yeah. really really hiding himself well as he's approaching that â free kick. I don't know.
Bright: They better have had to do some running, â at practice. freaking wind sprints. Cause that's, it was embarrassing. It was embarrassing on TV. It was embarrassing for us to watch as city fans. And I'm sure it was embarrassing for them. You know, â
Kev: Yeah. So what you're saying is if there was a game to miss this season and moving forward, that may have been the one to miss. I think there was the right call.
Bright: Yeah, certainly. You know, you give up, you give up those two really bad goals. go into halftime and you still kind of like, okay, if we can get one, right, you're down to nothing, but you got a whole half to go. Let's get one and see what happens. Well, guess what happened less than five minutes into, into the second half. And I said it in the blog. This is three games at a minimum now, not counting the USL matchup, but
Kev: back into it. Yep. Where are we going? Yeah, it's â something we constantly see, right? It's just within that first seven, five minutes of the second half, we're letting up a goal. And they're usually big goals for us. â You going down one nothing at that point in time, but like you said, that really knocked us out at this one. Like it knocked us out. That was it. Yeah. Yeah.
Bright: Yeah Yeah. This one puts us down. Yeah. This one, you're down three, nothing in the game. The game is over, you know, with the way that city plays, you have no chance at coming back from three, nothing, you know, and we have to talk about wall. I feel like it's just constant. What's going on with wall. Right. Terrible. â my God. So I mean that.
Kev: Why? What's going on with Wal? â
Bright: Yeah, the penalty he's flat footed. He's out of position. He takes the guy down. It wasn't even questionable. It's definitely a penalty. And then he looks around like, no, like, yes, dude, he is bad. He's a defensive liability. He holds up the offense. This guy has to go. â you know, it was a $2 million transfer. He's absolutely horrendous. We, I mean, the fans want to see Joyner. â we also have â struck now, you know, Joyner brings in that youth option.
Kev: Right.
Bright: â you know, some excitement, some skill, you see what happens and then â struck has the experience, you know, and he's, he's definitely the tactical option has a better, â tactical link up with huddle. So I, I don't know if, if wallham is in the starting lineup again today, when I'm there, I'm going to be at the game. I'm going to be fucking pissed. I'm going to be pissed.
Kev: you Yeah, what's funny is you say he's a defensive liability and I think the only thing I can think of is that's the only reason he's really on the field is because they like his his defense. Like, why is he on the field?
Bright: Well, I guess the only thing he brings you a little bit of, of a box to box player. That's the only thing, right? Like he can kind of play in that, in that style where we're currently playing three centerbacks. He can play your, your wing back or your wing mid. Right. So it gives you some, some of that flexibility where maybe Ostrich he's a little bit more offensive minded. Right. But Totland, Totland.
Kev: More offense. Yep.
Bright: He would be a starter, I would think on several MLS teams and you know, here he is riding the pine. He's also a box to box player. So what they see he's a little bit more defensive minded than wall. Maybe, Um, but, but we've seen Totland run down that wing, get crosses in there, uh, score some goals last year, um, or two years ago or both, you know? So at some point again, I know.
Kev: Yeah. you Maybe now.
Bright: Demay likes to stick with the same 11 as much as possible, but you know, after, after that game horrendous again, wallum wallum has to go. So he, costs us any chance of, of a comeback against Seattle, which was already, you know, not much of a, an opportunity, but there was one bright spot.
Kev: Come back now. in. for Dovote not being on the starting lineup.
Bright: No, no, no, no, no, Louvin, you know, Louvin comes into the game. His first MLS minutes. Uh, here, let me even, let me look it up.
Kev: Yeah, yeah. He came in at what? We come in at the. Was he 85th?
Bright: He came in, he came in in the 90th minute.
Kev: No ideas? Okay.
Bright: scored in the 92nd. So, you know, like how, how cool for him, you know, he definitely got, he got some applause, certainly from our traveling fans. â and then even, even so from some of this more in tune, â Seattle fans, he comes in right off the bat, add some creativity has a nice, like kind of behind the, behind the back leg pass to Cordova.
Kev: Good. â We miss him. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Bright: â kind of like a give and go Cordova, â actually took a shot and got a, you know, a lucky deflection landed right on, on Louvin's foot. And he just overpowers the goalie. Like that's what you love to see. He just steps into one right place, right time, buries it just absolutely crushes it. So not only does he bring the creativity, you know, he follows up the play in attacking style. And then he, he just lays into one and it goes in. You know, so I think there's, I think there's something to be said about that and what he brings.
Kev: We've been missing him all year, right? Like, we know that. We knew that we've been missing him all year and it's awesome to get it back on the field and obviously see his mental state in good spot.
Bright: Yeah, for sure. Now... Yeah. Now, DeMay says he's not going to get the start tonight. So we already know that. â but they did, he did say that he's at least at a minimum 45 minutes fit. So hopefully we, maybe we see him come on at the second half. Maybe it depends on what the score is. Maybe he comes on at none. If it's not the start of the second half, maybe he comes on at like the 60th minute or something like that. and gets 30 minutes of playtime, but I'll be, I'll be sporting my Louvin Jersey.
Kev: So that's good.
Bright: That's for sure at the, at the game tonight. So, â hopefully, hopefully we get to see him play. And if nothing, he'll get a big ovation from the home fans. â you know, so again, that was, that was the bright spot of, of that game. And at least gave us something to kind of cheer.
Kev: â yeah. â yeah. Sure. Yep. I it. Good to see him back on the field. Excited to see more of him. Let's forget about Seattle.
Bright: Yeah, yeah. I don't even really want to go through the stats from the game. â We gave up. Yeah.
Kev: Can you tell me, â give me some player readings.
Bright: I didn't look up the player ratings because I figured they were all so bad. said, said, screw it. We don't even need to bother. â
Kev: They're all spent. Don't want to see a bunch of 3.7s. Yeah.
Bright: Right. No, uh, uh, we gave up nine shots on target. course, four of them went in. their conversion rate almost 50%. We only had two shots on target. Um, but yet the possession was almost the same. They had Seattle had 51. We had 49. So I talked about this in the blog post. have no attacking identity. We can't, we can't figure it out. And something that the announcer said that I found interesting is we're actually leading the league and crosses. Which, and I said this in the blog post, I'm like, Oh, I'm like that, that's actually a pretty decent stat, you know, and we had seen a couple. Well, we saw a couple of goals. mean, the, um, the McNaughton, uh, serving to McSorley to tie it up. That was a cross, right. Um, and then, and then there was a second one. I hope it was the game the other day, right. Um, when we were down in Texas, that one came off of across to.
Kev: That's nuts. Okay. But... Yeah, but it's not converting.
Bright: So like, okay, you've converted a couple, but when you have the most in the league, you're not converting nearly enough. And then the announcer said, you know what? Maybe they have the most crosses because they don't have any other ideas. We have no other way to get into an attacking position. So all we can do is play it out wide and then throw up a prayer. Right? It's kind of like if you just did nothing but hail Mary's all day long, like, yeah, eventually you'll come down with one, but.
Kev: Mm-hmm. â Yeah. That's a good comment. Yeah. Yeah.
Bright: You know, the odds are against you. And if you're doing hail Marys all the time, that means you're not running any actual routes. You have no other, â attacking identity. And I think that's exactly what it is with St. Louis city. We just don't know what to do. We don't know what to do with the ball. We don't know how to get it into a shooting position. And then when we do, we shoot it high or wide or too soft, you know,
Kev: Creativity within that offense. Hey, don't disagree. It's a good comment. It's good thought. How do you fix it? What can you do to fix it?
Bright: Yeah. I think, I think that's pretty accurate. â that Louvin, you know, Louvin, Louvin gets to play. You have to bring in maybe some other players. So, you know, Durkin Edelman, I'm assuming they get the start tonight. They're, they're fine defensively. They really haven't shown enough, â you know, Hardell and toy shirt, toy shirt seems to be the only player that will run with the ball that will take the space and attack now.
Kev: living now.
Bright: It hasn't worked out for him yet. And every, know, we've said this before, like, get them in the game, but then he hasn't, he hasn't produced. So even though I start to see those flashes where I'm like, all right, he's taken the defender on, he's dribbling, he's trying to make something happen, but he's yet to actually make something happen. Eventually I put money on him to, be an anytime goal scorer last game. â that didn't work out for me. And then I put money down for the city win. â that was, that was a big mistake.
Kev: I like it every time, â Something's gotta happen. Yeah. Yeah. Did ya? I think I threw down I was feeling optimistic with a tie with a draw and you know lost that ten bucks so it was my only bet
Bright: Yeah. I was just happy. had lost. Yeah. I lost 10 bucks. I was just happy that draft Kings let me actually place the bet. You know? Yeah. Yeah. Especially I was, I was in Mexico earlier that day. So if somehow, you know, I didn't open up the app, I guess I, I don't know who knows that they're tracking that kind of a thing, but all right. Let's move on from the Seattle matchup. know that it sucks and.
Kev: That's a point because you haven't been able to do anything lately with locality. â No. See ya, how do you know?
Bright: You know, this is pretty much like I said, at at this point, it's, it's make or break, right? Cause if you look at the, if you look at the overall state of the union, before we start in, â tonight, we have one win in eight matches. One win.
Kev: Helva went too. I was there.
Bright: Like, yeah, you were lucky. You were lucky that you got, you got that one. So, you know, currently 14th in the West. Right. So not, not good. Demay has not shown any real, you know, gumption. So.
Kev: No, he hasn't shown what it takes yet. That's for sure. Just from subbing and then lineup changes. Not a lot of positivity.
Bright: Yeah. Lineup changes have been non-existent for the start. Yeah. So I don't know. Demay is not great. We're currently conceding 1.6 goals per game. I don't know how many goals we're scoring per game, but it's less than that. Maybe one, if you're lucky on average.
Kev: A lot of rolling out of the same 11 and same setup. No chances won. Not across the season.
Bright: Right. Yeah. Well, we've had a couple of shout outs. Yeah. Yeah. Not good. â and just, just real quick, I did have the stat on Wallum going into tonight. Zero goals, zero assists and eight starts. So.
Kev: You needed to look that one up?
Bright: Yeah, I know, right?
Kev: I told you that one. Yeah, he's gotta go. don't wanna see Betrayer up top either. So those are like my two changes.
Bright: Yes, yes, yes. All right. So going in. Well, okay. So I want to talk about better too, cause what else do you do? You know, if you don't have Louvin starting, cause I guess if you do have Louvin starting, you could maybe put him with Hartle as the center attacking mids and then have, have toy shirt up top.
Kev: Yeah, I think you could do that.
Bright: I mean, you could, you could try that, I guess, right? Like you could do that, but betcha right now. I looked up the top performing forwards in major league soccer based on their yearly salary. Right. So based on how much money you make and where you're producing.
Kev: What your efficiency is off of it.
Bright: Right. Exactly. So betcher comes in ranked at number he's the, he was the first city player on here. So Cordova is further down the list, right? Like, I don't even know if he's played enough to even qualify really, but betcher comes in at number 41.
Kev: â I thought it was gonna be two. Yeah, not surprising.
Bright: Yeah. They only do the top 60. They do the top 60. He comes in at number 41, but his salary, and I double checked this, his, his annual salary is actual base salary is $138,000. Like that's nothing. So if he, if he ends up producing for you at that price, like great. But yeah. And it looks like it's total compensation was around $230,000.
Kev: It's probably better than I thought. There it is. Great. Yeah.
Bright: â you know, so I don't know now there was some news about Joe Klaus, you know, unfortunately he's out until after the, the world cup break. I don't know if you saw that and where does he, he comes in ranked at number 13.
Kev: No, I didn't. What did I... â 13, yep. But it felt good.
Bright: Number 13. Yeah. So just outside the top 10, you know, making 1.1 million a year. Right. So there were some other, there were some other interesting names, you know, on here. â number one is Sam Surridge who makes 2.3 million for Nashville. So he comes in at number one. So even though he's making lots of money, he's producing, â
Kev: Yep. Made the money for a reason, you know?
Bright: Right. Yeah. Sergeant who's just into the league. They actually don't even have his current salary on here, but they have him at number 19. â you know, so I thought that was interesting, but yeah, not great for city. Obviously you need somebody up top that could score goals and we don't, we just don't have it.
Kev: Yep, story of the season, story of last season. Nothing's changed.
Bright: So. Yeah. Now the last time we played at home, we scored what three against new England, but they're not a good team and San Jose is a good team. So this is a little bit of a, you know, David versus Goliath situation. â San Jose is currently number one in the league with an eight, one and â record. â they just scored five on Austin, â on Wednesday. So they did play Wednesday. We did not.
Kev: Mm-hmm. Mm-mm.
Bright: Actually, most teams played Wednesday. why we didn't, â I'm not quite sure. So maybe you've got a little, they could be tired. They got to rest some of their guys kind of a situation, but Austin also is a bad team. Right. They're not good. Now, luckily we've got them next on the road. So, you know, maybe there's something there too bad teams playing each other. Maybe we'll get lucky. â but yeah, so maybe San Jose is a little, you know, a little bit run down. But here is a crazy stat for you, you ready?
Kev: Thank
Bright: City is six and O all time against San Jose. So that is a good stats. â we own them historically, â much like Seattle owns us, but San Jose hasn't been good since we've been in the league. This is their first year that they've really turned it around. They got Bruce arena as their head coach. â he started last year. They started to, you know, get a better identity. And then this year they're flying high.
Kev: Woohoo!
Bright: So some people have kind of said, maybe that's what we're going to see with the may like, all right, we're going to have a rough year this year, but we'll figure it out. And then next year, watch out. I don't know that I buy into all that, but.
Kev: I'll hoop for it. I think this is going to be a game where it's a lot of averages, right? It kind of plays back into the meme. They get one. I think I think we're in for some trouble here,
Bright: Well, yeah, I guess so. Yeah. I don't know. My, my thought process is, you know, if domain doesn't bench wall, then we're probably looking at a four nil or five one blowout at home, which is not going to be a fun game. So it's all on wall.
Kev: think we're going to lose that perfect record against him. All rested on Walla. I hope he hears this. hope he knows it. It's all at him.
Bright: Yeah. mean, could also, I mean, betcher, know, Cordova, whoever it is plays up top that somebody eventually got a score goal.
Kev: I know, I say I don't want Betcher in the game starting tonight, but again, who are you playing up top if you don't play Betcher? Because I don't want Cordova either. Like for me, it's just he's done. Let's get to June, let the contract expire, move on. I'm not seeing anything from him. Kim?
Bright: Yeah. Right. Yeah. It seems like a waste. Betcher. Betcher can bring some creativity. It just hasn't been consistent enough. He is also a nuisance player. You know, he's a guy that draws files that gets under the other team's skin. â have we even had a penalty kick this year yet? I don't know that we have. No.
Kev: We haven't.
Bright: â the other thing is with Louvin coming back and again, maybe not until the second half tonight, but instantly that improves your, â your corner kicks, your, â your set piece plays and he was our number one crosser, â over the last several years. So while we've been relying. Well, sure. But we've been relying on bad crossers, you know? â yeah. Yeah.
Kev: Yeah. And for a team that's already crossed it a lot. Getting some better, yeah, getting some better crossers. We've already talked about while I'm kicking it in and just the hope and prayer that he does sometimes for us with no thought on where he's kicking it, flying it into the â seventh row. Just ridiculous. I will say Santos, I do feel like his â corner kicks have brought something for us with the pace that he puts on it. But to your...
Bright: So we'll see. And Santos is kicking it into the crowd. Field, field goals. Cause he puts pace on it. Exactly. Yeah.
Kev: Yeah, but to your point, sometimes he's putting a little too much pace and it's out of the stadium.
Bright: Yeah. Now, Wallum are, but not wall. Oh my God. Louvin, Louvin puts pace on his crosses and that's the big difference between him and, hard all, know, hard all is just floating it up there. Um, so I don't know. All right. Well, the odds, they, they don't look great. So 30, 38 % chance for city to win 37 % chance for San Jose to win.
Kev: And horror. Yeah. Yeah. Mm... Mm-mm.
Bright: And a 25 % chance for a draw. So that's what it's currently showing. However, with that said, normally the home team and MLS has like a 50 to 60 % chance to win. Right. They, tend to favor these hopes. to have it this close is not great. I'm surprised they're not still giving San Jose the, the win here. Now, if you're looking up draft Kings, I'm sure it's the other way around.
Kev: Yep. Let's see how that ends.
Bright: I'm sure people are betting on San Jose to win this one.
Kev: Yeah, I'm on DraftKings here. It's plus 150 for the San Jose win plus 145 still for St. Louis City to win. odds are still in with San Jose. Plus 150 for San Jose, yeah.
Bright: Really? Wait, it's, it's plus 150 for San Jose? And plus one 45 for city. Wow. And so that's actually pretty.
Kev: Yep. So they're still giving the odds to, yeah, to St. Louis. Uh-huh. Now.
Bright: city. So that's pretty similar to what we're seeing now. And then what's the draw? 115?
Kev: â plus 275.
Bright: â so there's, there's, so the draw actually is a good play.
Kev: Yeah, so then I mean that's gonna to your point. Well, what'd say it was it was percentages wise 30? 7 City
Bright: 38 St. Louis, 37 San Jose, 25 draw.
Kev: So it lines up the same thing with what you're seeing there. I will say that I'm looking at the percentage of bets placed and 84 % are putting their money on San Jose to win it.
Bright: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Well, for, for one plus one 50, that's a pretty good, I like your odds.
Kev: But that's what's so surprising is that they haven't moved that line to favor San Jose. You should be looking at a San Jose like plus 120, St. Louis plus 180 or something like that. It should shift with that percentage, but it just hasn't yet. â if you like money, you might want to go out and bet San Jose right now.
Bright: Yeah, sure. Well, let's see as we get closer to game time and maybe. Yeah. Well, at least that if I, if I put a little bit of money on San Jose, which I don't like to do, right. But then I'm going to the game, â bringing my wife. It's educators nights. â she is an educator. So I thought it was only fitting. That's a beautiful, beautiful day today too, man. It's going to be perfect downtown. The beers will be flowing. We're going to eat down there. Kids are spending the night at the grandparents. We might even stay for the after party.
Kev: â before it it drops Mm-mm. Mm-hmm. Come on, then.
Bright: â sometimes that depends on. Yeah. Depends on if, if you win and you're hyped up about the wind, then it's kind of fun to stay for the after party. If you get blown out, then it's kind of like, let's just go home and watch Netflix, you know? â right. Right. Yeah. So, â so we will, we will see there, but if I do put the money down on San Jose and then we lose, then at least I'm like, Hey, well,
Kev: There you go. Do it. Well, you might not want to, depending on the feel. Sure. Yeah, you've already left and it's 85 minutes into the game. Yeah.
Bright: The game sucked, but I want some money.
Kev: Yep.
Bright: You know, and if we, if St. Louis wins and I put the money on San Jose, then I'm still happy because I'm like, Hey, at least we won. So that might be the best case scenario for my, â you know, for the way that I feel after this game.
Kev: You know. Taking a look, yeah, I still just can't believe that they got San Jose behind us in terms of percentages and that holds true to the St. Louis City tie â or win on the double chance at minus 200 San Jose tire win minus 190 so you're still getting a little bit you know of an advantage going San Jose tire win.
Bright: Yeah. Okay.
Kev: I find it so interesting that they haven't changed that. It sounds like Vegas is favoring.
Bright: Yeah. Interesting. Interesting. guess, I guess we will see. All right. So last, last little bit here saying bin, â he's out tonight. â for â a minor, think I said knee, â nothing long-term. Yeah. Tweek, but he's out, â Roscoe still out on concussion protocol. Louvin only 45 minutes fit. He's not starting.
Kev: favoring cities. tweak.
Bright: Um, and then something else I found interesting is our best pass accuracy on the team. Now this doesn't surprise me. It's bum gargle at 93%. Um, But with, with our possession last, last game, I think it's just more obvious that we just sit around and pass the ball around in the back. You know, we play it forward. Wallen plays it backwards. We play it forward while and plays it backwards. And so, yeah, okay. So bum guard all your center back has the best pass accuracy on the team. No big surprise there, but we need some forward passes. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of the backward passes.
Kev: Now.
Bright: Holding possession at this point isn't really going to do too much. You know, when you have even possession and you're still losing four one, â you need attacking pressure. So that's what I want to see tonight at home in front of the hometown crowd. We should be attacking, trying to score some goals, keep it exciting. â otherwise, you know, there might be, this is like I said, if we lose tonight, time to hit the panic button. â yep. Yep. So.
Kev: I'm looking at now. Two away games, two tough games. Yeah, well. I'm not I'm not not hold my breath for a win, but maybe we'll get lucky. You know what? I am going to hold my breath for a win. I am going to hold it. I'm going to I think we're going to get a win. I think we're going to get a win. I'm putting my money. You hear it now on city when I'm throwing my 10 bucks on it.
Bright: Yep. Exactly. Are you gonna watch? Well, it's a home game. We should win.
Kev: not coming away with a little bit of money. So two, one, win. That's what's happening.
Bright: Perfect. Let's do it. 2-1, you're calling it. Okay. All right.
Kev: Two one, hurdle and â a, I don't know, a hurdle and a toy shirt.
Bright: Louvin toy shirt. All right. I will go, I will go a three, two win.
Kev: There we go, okay.
Bright: You know, I think, I think Louvin comes on at halftime. think the crowd goes crazy. think the crowds into it tonight. The weather's perfect. â so maybe, maybe that brings some life to this team after a smack down in Seattle. Maybe that should have been the title of the blog smack down in Seattle, Seattle smack down.
Kev: It's gorgeous out there. You know, this was supposed to be my game. I just want to say that. This was supposed to be my game.
Bright: Well, okay. right. Originally it was your game, but I said in there, if I wasn't traveling, that I'd be in for the swap. And so I'm not traveling. â so I want to do the swap and I'm giving you the Toronto game later in the season, â which will have Sergeant in town. Now, if I'm home, I might still go to that game. â but, but yeah, I thought it worked out because there were, there was in the way that we had the breakdown. There were three, where you had three games in a row early in the season.
Kev: Yeah. Yeah, gotta go see a surgeon. Yep.
Bright: And then later in the season, I had three games in a row. don't like it. Anytime we have three games in a row, you know, it's, you know, one. Well, I said that I said the same thing. I said the same thing on the NFNP pod. â duds asked about that, you know, and I'm like, I don't remember. haven't been to the game since, â was it the Seattle game? So three, seven. So it's been almost two months, almost too much for me. Now, if I was home, I would have gone to the U S open cup game.
Kev: You're not. It just feels like I haven't been down there in like two months, you know, with the way that the schedule is, it's brutal. Yeah. Yeah.
Bright: â I would have done that, but I was, I was traveling. So, â we'll see. And then I don't know who has the next game. I'm a suit. No, it's you. Cause it would have been three in a row. â so you've got LAFC, â that's on five 13 and then I've got Austin, â which is a, â one 30 game on that must be Memorial day weekend. So that'll be.
Kev: Yeah. If I won. Yeah, think we start rolling into a couple of Wednesday night games here soon too,
Bright: LAFC is a Wednesday night game. Yes. And that's our only Wednesday night game, I think until the world cup break. But then, you know, that one kind of kicked in because then they got to make up some time because we're taking, you know, taking a six week hiatus or longer. You know? â so yeah, maybe like a seven week hiatus. So, â yeah, they'll need, â they'll need to back that up with some Wednesday games for sure. So.
Kev: Okay. Before we go, are you scoping out any food at the stadium?
Bright: â so we had pizza last night. So I know pizza is out. I'm with my wife. We'll have to figure it out. â I want to go protein heavy, â stick with the diet. So, â either an olive and Oak burger or, â or some ribs from Pappy's, not the sandwich. I did the sandwich last time. â the burnt end sandwich. So could go with some straight ribs or the, â chicken, chicken burrito from soul taco.
Kev: Yeah. Mm, minutes. Gabby's brinets are just so good.
Bright: I think those are, it's gonna be one of those three. So I'll let you know.
Kev: Yeah. I think we did the burritos last time from Soul Taco there, but â again, â wanted nachos and we got it. It ended up being a burrito that came out and I think we just took it, but it was delicious for, she loved it. So was good. We just said, screw it, we'll take it.
Bright: It's one of the best bangs for your buck, because you're going to be stuffed. Yeah. Well, that's good. Yeah. I think that all of it Oak burger and the soul, â soul tacos burrito, whether it's chicken or steak, either one you're stuffed. think it's the best bang for your buck. Sometimes you get something like the Burnett sandwich is the same price as both of those other things. But then you're like, yeah, that wasn't quite enough. It is good. It is good. And it's messy though. Cause you got to get a lot of barbecue sauce on.
Kev: That's big. Dylan Wise. Yeah, but it's so freaking good, man. It's so good. You gotta give it to him. For sure.
Bright: Yeah. I like Steve's, I like Steve's hot dogs, but you know, need like exactly. Yeah. need at least two. And then when the time you have two, that's more than those other stuff. And it's not cheap to go down to the games, you know, by the time you throw on some beers and you know, we like to drink. If you're just going down there and drinking sodas, not a problem, but we like to drink the brewskis and then we'd like to drink before and after we it's a whole event.
Kev: Yeah, but you come away like you need another one or three of them or something before you... Okay? It's the way I want to do it. I want booze. want I want some food and I want some goals for the home team. So.
Bright: So we're gonna drop some money. That's right. All right. Let's end with that. I think that'll be the title of this episode. We want some booze. We want some food and we want some goals.
Kev: Bye everybody.
